A place I have visited
The best place that I had ever visited is Cusco and its surroundings. Cusco is a
very beautiful small city, located in the southeast of Perú at a height of 3.400
meters.
Cusco is a very beautiful small city. With colonial buildings like the cathedral called
Basilica Virgen de la Asunción. Lamentably a big part of the Cusco’s beauty comes
from the dispossession of the inca people: many amazing walls and buildings of
the city were built with stones stolen from the inca’s temples. It was the dark side of
the colonial process. Buy, despite that, Cusco is a real beautiful place.
The surroundings of Cusco are very cute too, places like the Sacred Valley, which
is a lovely place. It looks over the mountains, there are hardly any cars there and
there are hardly villages too. So, the place is very quiet and natural and has a
spectacular landscape.
Certainly, the archaeological sites are the most interesting attractions of the
Cusco´s surroundings, and without doubt, Macchu Picchu is the most important
archaeological place in this region. It is a city placed at 3000 mts, in the mountains,
made of stones. It has sacred places where incas did its rituals, and habitational
buildings, graners, astronomic observatories, etc. It is an amazing place, looks out
over the mountains, surrounded by vegetation, and it was the last inca´s shelter
after colonization process. Being in Machu Picchu I felt a deep connection with
American ancient history and with nature landscape too
So, Cusco and Mache Picchu are -between the places that I have traveled- my
favorites.
Congratulations! You have visited one of the "New" Modern Wonders of the World!
ResponderEliminarHi Pierina, I'd like to visit Cusco someday, so your entry gives me an idea about interesting places. I like that travel didn't just give you a relaxing time, but also the opportunity to reflect on your research area in humanities.
