My future job
I can´t
imagine that in the future I will be doing something different from that I have
been doing so far: being a university professor. I love my job, I love teaching
and interacting with young people and motivate my students to learn, to work up
a critical point of view about society and develop their own thinking. So, is difficult for me imagine myself doing
other thing, therefore I would love to continue being a university professor
but in much better conditions than today. For instance, in the future, I would
like apply for a full time work at a public university, and have a contract and
a salary every month as the contracted professors have.
Fortunately,
when I have a full time job as university professor I will be able travel every
year to participate in congresses, seminars, courses and conferences, both in
Chile and abroad. This is other point that I love of being professor, the opportunities
of travel around the world.
Now I´m
studying a PhD in Latin American Studies. I decided to study a PhD because I
love studying but also because is a condition to make a university career as
professor. So, when I have finished my PhD I will be able to reach a full-time
job at a public university like I want.
About the
salary, I don’t have great expectations, but I´m satisfied with the average
salary of a university professor.
Hi Pierina!
ResponderEliminarIt's great that you already do classes as university professor, because you have a better background to understand and develop yout teaching skills. I believe that working with students must necessarily involve the generation of criticial points of view and independent thinking that you mentioned, especially in an area difficult to separate from subjectivity. In that sense, you must be a great teacher.
